You Gotta Have Faith

The modeling industry, though often perceived as godless and immoral (or, at the very least, amoral), is actually built on faith. Besides having nerves of steel, a thick skin, and a need to pick yourself up and get back on the horse, modeling people have to have an indestructible faith. The whole operation is built on hope. We hear about it from everybody in the business. There is no room for doubt, even if it looms large. And it’s sure to make for some eccentric personalities.
As Archie Bunker once tried to explain, “Faith is something you believe that nobody in his right mind would believe.”
Dig the faith:
•This month’s cover boy, Rene Fris, had the courage to leave his native Denmark for an uncertain outside world. Armed with his hair-care skills, he kicked ass almost immediately.
•Yolanda Perez believed in her art long enough to have scores of models and actors believe – and benefit – from her enduring faith.
•Helen Job’s fashion forecasts are accurate and compelling enough to lead an entire industry to have continuing, unwavering faith in her. She never lets the industry down.
•Andy Dunn and Brian Spaly didn’t doubt for a minute that they had a goldmine idea about a line of cool trousers. Although they seem like unlikely New York designers, their Bonobos brand is now a fashion force.
•Charles Rosen, Scott Wojcik and Gayle Seay not only have faith in the models they call in for castings, but the models and their agencies have a long-lasting faith in them. They cast with a strong eye, and a sensitive touch. All agreed: they are three of the strongest dependables in the business.
•The Brooklyn Style Foundation has faith in the designers who are going up against the big boys and girls of Manhattan. Goliath, meet your David.
We at Fabulmag are feeling the faith too, as a growing number of you are checking in and letting us know what you want to see and read.
Our mission? We want to get into the heads of those who make the modeling world turn, and find out what makes these thoroughbreds keep moving. We have faith that we will deliver this message consistently to you. We have only just begun, but we invite everybody in to share our journey on a righteous path.
Keep the faith, baby!
